Something Sunday: Documentary - 13th

Today's Something Someday features the documentary

13th.

I watched this documentary at the end of last June. It was illuminating, fascinating, and depressing. I especially felt bad because throughout my life I was immersed in cultural diversity and this documentary which reveals a persisting racism embedded into a part of the justice system was a stark contrast.

White men have a 1 in 17 lifetime likelihood of imprisonment.
Black men have a 1 in 3 lifetime likelihood of imprisonment.

I didn't know anything about incarceration in the United States prior to watching this movie. If you would like to learn about the topic, then I would highly recommend you watch this documentary. For all others, I would also recommend the documentary, but with less urgency.
