Movie Ocean's Twelve (2004)

20180403:
I've seen this movie before, and honestly, I didn't really want to watch it again, but I haven't seen the third and I figured it was appropriate to just go ahead and watch the second movie first.

Danny Ocean (George Clooney)

In the end, despite the great performances from all the actors, the movie's story lacked the awe and twist of the first, Ocean's Eleven.

Actually, I thought the premise of the entire movie was weak. Terry Benedict, despite having been insured for the money stolen from his casino, demands that amount back from Ocean's Eleven, plus interest. Where would all that money have gone? Into his pocket? Technically, at that point, he would have been the one stealing from his own casino.

In general, the film left me lost on several points. Some of the same questions I had were asked by someone on an internet forum (and various responses indicated others were confused by the plot as well).

Q: Why did LeMarc willingly give Danny and Rusty the tip-off?
A: Supposedly to both show The Night Fox to not be so egotistic and to get his daughter back. With respect to getting his daughter back, I'd have to admit that Rusty was able to do it tactfully.

Isabel Lahiri (Catherine Zeta-Jones)

Q: So The Night Fox only lost by cheating?
A: Technically, yes. But Ocean's 11 only got wrapped into the game because The Night Fox got them in trouble in the first place.

Q: Why did they go through the ruse of stealing a replica?
A: Because they were being monitored and had to make it look as if they're attempting to steal the egg.

I didn't have these questions, but they were asked and I thought they should be included here.
Q: Why did LeMarc want the egg?
A: LeMarc had stolen the egg in the past and only returned it because his wife made him do so. After his wife passed away, he wished to have the egg back in his possession.

Rusty Ryan (Brad Pitt)

Q: Someone explain the entire movie.
A: Essentially the entire movie revolves around LeMarc pulling the strings. He helps Ocean's 11 get out of their problem with Benedict by taking advantage of his pupil's ego. His pupil, The Night Fox, is offended when his teacher doesn't praise him and challenges Ocean's 11. LeMarc then helps Ocean's 11 win the challenge so The Night Fox has to pay Benedict what they stole and now they're off the hook. The ending implies that The Night Fox will be able to steal it back in due time. LeMarc also has Rusty reunite him with his daughter.

Netflix determined the movie for me as a 96% match. I decided to give the movie neither a thumbs up nor a thumbs down.

Great beginning (Pitt's character jumps out the window)
Dramatically tosses the flowers to the ground.

Rusty and Danny's fake laughter.
Hahaha. "It was my Uncle Harold."
Haha. Linus doesn't understand what's going on. Though technically it's not his fault; they should have clued him in.

Terry Benedict (Andy Garcia)

Danny: Rusty's not 50 years old.
Turk: Yeah dude, we know Rusty's not 50.
Danny: You think I'm 50 years old? Let me ask you something... [to Virgil] no, let me ask you something: how old do you think I am?
Virgil: 48?
Danny: You think I'm 48 years old?
Virgil: 52?

Capoeira.
But I remember there's a twist. Somehow, they purposely don't steal it. [Hmm. The following scene makes this hypothesis seem incorrect... But it still might be true to some extent.]
Julia Roberts
Haha. Bruce Willis.
Capoeira through lasers. I'd say with a bit of luck. Though the ways the laser sweep, I'd say their behavior wasn't so random.
