Movie Lara Croft: Tomb Raider (2001)

20180208:
Some movies have plots which are unrealistic, but manage to suspend disbelief until well after the movie has ended. Some others suspend disbelief until after the movie ends. And then there are those that have plots which open immediate questions and spoil the enjoyment of the movie. With Lara Croft: Tomb Raider, there were too many points in the movie where I couldn't help but feel that the movie could have just ended (with respect to the plot).

Lara Croft (Angelina Jolie)

And to the movie's detriment, even a lot of the action was subpar.

Netflix determined the movie for me as a 98% match. I decided to give the movie a thumbs down.

Instant Comments:
Huh. I remembered it was a simulation, but it seemed like an expensive and/or excessive simulation so then it began to be real. But then it turned out to be a simulation. And it turned out that the simulation robot was overtuned.

Manfred Powell (Iaian Glen)

"And a lady should be modest." "Yes, a *lady* should be modest."
Illuminati
Goes to sleep with a knife.
Lol. Why doesn't he get to live in the house? [Ha, his choice, calls himself a "free spirit"]

Lara Croft. "Who sits here?" [...] "Yes, but who sits here?" [...] "I don't think you sit here, do you?"

Honestly who does a drop-in and stays suspended on the line, as opposed to dropping in and standing on the floor.
These guys seem more incompetent than the average movie soldier.
Lol. That motorcycle blow was cool.
Why destroy both halves of the triangle? Just destroy one half? [It becomes clear after the 1 hour mark. But it's not clear if she already realized this fact when she recovered the first half.]

Lord Richard Croft (Jon Voight)

What? I thought they would have followed her. But if they already knew where half of the triangle was located, why hadn't they started looking earlier? [It's essentially explained later. Basically retrieving the triangle requires the alignment of the planets. However, they still could have entered the ruins and do the necessary research earlier. Waiting until the last minute only benefits the suspense of the movie.]
There's the feeling that with the men, the statues are throwing their swords at a higher frequency. Cause Lara was facing two of them and while fighting one, the other should have thrown its sword. But didn't seem to try until she was finished with the first. Ridiculous.

Alex West (Daniel Craig) and Lara.

The beast statues seemed to be harder to take down. Yet didn't use that much more stone. Seems like an ancient engineering oversight.
1 hr 12 min mark: "Don't go. You're risking everything to see him again."
There's all these spooky spirits. 1) Girl leading Lara around the temple. 2) Monk (which isn't a spirit, but recognized Lara and knew her father). And now 3) this little girl.

Released 20010615.

Lara Croft.

I saw this movie once before, possibly in theaters.
