The Time Goddess comes to the rescue (and for her share of money).
The Hero 30 Mode of Half-Minute Hero is like an RPG, but at a much more rapid pace. Instead of spending endless hours gaining experience, finding equipment, and talking to characters, the player progresses through the Hero 30 Mode in pieces and each piece only requires a minimal amount of fighting, exploration, and talking.

Take that Cave Bat!
20141209:
When I first booted up the game, I didn't know what to expect from it and its mysterious title.

Then, upon starting the first level (of Hero 30 Mode), I still didn't know what to expect. I did, however, notice that the character runs quite quickly.

Equipment screen between levels.
I later learned that this is due to the eventual time trial nature of the game, where the player's goal is to complete a level as fast as possible.

After playing the first three levels, I went back to the first level and tried to improve my time. With each pass, I continued shaving off seconds as I learned the intricacies of the level.

2 v. 1 advantage!
Unfortunately, my laptop had begun to run low on power, which was a sign I needed to go to sleep. Though in truth, I was also stumped on how to continue improving my time by more than just luck (i.e., minor fluctuations in reaction time).

Overall, I found the Hero 30 Mode of Half-Minute Hero to be a surprisingly fun game. I look forward to seeing what the other game modes have to offer.

I managed to finish the level in 00'07'17!
