I liked X-Men: First Class (2011) more. This movie was between average and above average. There were moments I liked and there were moments I disliked. Certain scenes were over the top. I didn't like the way the movie was cut, but I tend to think in terms of excitement and suspense. After a while, I can see how the final movie told the story well.

In the end, I was glad to have watched it in theatres, since action movies benefit from being seen on the big screen - especially for $5, instead of whatever the normal ticket pricing is.

Hugo Weaving as Red Skull.

In terms of characters, I felt neutral towards the protagonist Captain America. There were times where some of his actions (especially during the training session) were commendable. In fact, I actually enjoyed Hugo Weaving's role as Red Skull and Stanley Tucci's role as Dr. Abraham Erkskine more than Chris Evans as Captain America.

The relative neutral feeling with Captain America also comes in contrast to the likable characters Spider-Man (2002), (2004), (2007) and Iron Man (2008), (2010). The romance portion of Captain America also came up short in contrast to the romances in Spider-Man, Iron Man, and Batman. To clarify, I understand Captain America's personality is distinct from that of Spider-Man and Iron Man, and I'm trying to point out that the scenes of the movie didn't portray his character in a way that thoroughly convinces me of how cool he is or why I should root for him. There were several moments that came close.

After the credits roll, we see a trailer for The Avengers (2012).

Some of these HISHE (How It Should Have Ended) are good and some aren't. I like this one:

Like with my previous impression of the movie, I liked some of the scenes, but the movie as a whole was lackluster. That's somewhat of an insult as I consider myself easily entertained. With that being said, I recommend you watch this movie for the sake of it's tie-in to The Avengers (2012) or because Hugo Weaving makes for an awesome Red Skull.

The grenade scene is one of my favorites. The flag scene is good too.
Haha. Hahaha. "No I don't have procedure. I don't drink it after, I drink it now."

Hahaha. Explosion -> "Write that down."
"I can't get drunk."
What I don't understand is why they didn't keep any of the technology while raiding these facilities.
What a tragic love story.
Ha. "I'm not kissing ya."
