This movie is great, sad but great. It captures so much emotion for an animation. Almost realistic. And to think the movie was made in 1988! Throughout the movie, I keep thinking, what a mean aunt... I mean, it's one thing not to treat your niece and nephew like your own, but to use up their food and tell them that they are useless, that's terrible. In any case, beautiful...

The title is referenced to at about 58 minutes into the film. Having not seen the movie for such a long time, I didn't remember why the movie was called "Grave of the Fireflies" and so when this seen came around, I was like "Oh... I see..."

The animation work was done by Studio Ghibli.
