Video Game Velocity Ultra (PC) (2013)

Overview: A 2D shooter where the player controls a ship called the Quarp Jet that can teleport.

20170407:
I played this game today and had some fun with it, but it wasn't as addictive as a game such as Jamestown. The gameplay mechanics are interesting, but perhaps also too complicated for me to enjoy. In different words, there exists a challenge for those looking to get deep into Velocity Ultra, but it's not for me.

The Quarp Jet teleports right into the middle of a circle of enemies.

On a somewhat related note, I was feeling a little headache (motion sickness), likely due to a lack of sleep, which may have caused for an unpleasant experience. I might owe it to the game to try it again at a later date.

Setup: Keyboard and Mouse.

Gameplay Mechanics: Aside from standard shooter motion (WASD), the player can boost (shift) to finish a level faster, shoot, teleport, and throw bombs. Eventually the player can also release telepods, but I had yet to experience it.

Goal: There are various components which go into getting a high score. These include getting through the level quickly and collecting all the survivors (tokens spread throughout the level).

Steam Game Time: 39 minutes

Thoughts: (Keyboard and Mouse)
Pro:
+ Teleporting is fun

Neutral:
~ Teleporting is unwieldy
~ The game is less centered around glorious shooting and more around navigating obstacles.

Summary:
The game with keyboard and mouse was a decent experience. I'm curious how a gamepad or a Steam controller would handle.

Attacking enemies.

While the game had some interesting game mechanics and puzzle elements, I was left with the uncertainty of if I wanted to play more.
