20110106:

This movie was mostly great.

Great cast. Debuting on the big-screen, actress Hailee Steinfeld plays the role of Mattie wonderfully.

Favorite scene: Mattie crosses the river on Little Blackie.

I didn't feel the emotional levels I thought the movie might have been able to bring to the table.

I'm not too fond of the ending, because it lacked feeling.

Reading my own comments above, I would interpret my opinion of the movie as above average. In fact, my comments had compelled me to watch the movie for second time.

20130122:
I suppose by my dislike of the ending in my previous entry, I mean the part after the 1 hour 40 minute mark. In any case, I'd like to say that I like this movie most for Hailee Stenfield's performance of Mattie. I can't believe she was only 14 years old at the time this film was released. I look forward to seeing her in films to come.

My favorite scene after Mattie crossing the river on Little Blackie is the scene at the end before the 1 hour 40 minute mark.

My favorite dialogue exchange is the collection of Mattie doing business with the livestock man. This includes claiming her father's saddle and purchasing a pony.

If you're hankering for a western, then you should check this movie out.

"If you would like to kiss him, it would be alright."
"I always go backwards when I'm backing up."
Hahahaha. "If he wanted a decent burial, he should have gotten himself killed in the summer."
"I thought you was gonna say the sun was in your eyes. That is your eye."
Oh, Josh Brolin plays the role of Tom Chaney.
"Keep your seat, trash."
