Movie Field of Dreams (1989)

20101218:
This is a feel-good movie and you don't need to know anything about baseball to enjoy it. Though perhaps it would be better if you knew a handful of famous baseball players.

Ray Kinsella (Kevin Costner)

While a good family movie for being emotional, inspiring, and all those good feelings, the movie was also sort of boring.

20150909:
Today, after watching Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit (2014), I was trying to think of movies I've seen with Kevin Costner. While I was sure I had seen Dances with Wolves (1990) and Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves (1991), I thought that I had only seen bits and parts of Fields of Dreams. However, according to this blog post, I apparently saw the entire movie.

Shoeless Joe Jackson (Ray Liotta)

While not an amazing movie, it was sentimental and I enjoyed it.

Unlike my previous entry, I did not feel any part of the movie was boring.

20171110:
While my blog suggests I've already seen this movie, I have next to no memory of it and I had difficulty deciding whether or not I should watch it today. In the end, I decided I should go ahead and watch it.

Annie Kinsella (Amy Madigan)

Netflix determined the movie for me as a 98% match. I decided to give the movie neither a thumbs up nor a thumbs down.

2: Whisper number 1: "If you build it, he will come." [apparently this gets misquoted as "If you build it, they will come."]
2: What? The whole family sees this guy?
2: "Hey, is this heaven?" "No, it's Iowa."

Karin Kinsella (Gaby Hoffmann)

2: Ha. "We're keeping this field."
2: Interesting. Only him, his wife, and daughter can see the team.
2: Though it's strange because they're probably playing with imaginary balls. Yet the protagonist gets thrown a physical ball.
2: Whisper number 2: "Ease his pain."
2: Mentions Rosebud (a reference to Citizen Kane)
2: WTF. They had the same dream...

Dr. Archibald "Moonlight" Graham (Burt Lancaster)

2: Ha. "We got a learning disability here?"
2: Wha? "I never said that." My guess is that he actually did say it... But for whatever reason didn't want to reveal it.
2: Whisper number 3: "Go the distance."

2: Lol. A little creepy for Mann to be in front of the car.
2: "Hi, I'm Archie Graham." Lol.

Terence Mann (James Earl Jones)

2:
Ray, people will come Ray. They'll come to Iowa for reasons they can't even fathom. They'll turn up your driveway not knowing for sure why they're doing it. They'll arrive at your door as innocent as children, longing for the past. Of course, we won't mind if you look around, you'll say. It's only $20 per person. They'll pass over the money without even thinking about it: for it is money they have and peace they lack. And they'll walk out to the bleachers; sit in shirtsleeves on a perfect afternoon. They'll find they have reserved seats somewhere along one of the baselines, where they sat when they were children and cheered their heroes. And they'll watch the game and it'll be as if they dipped themselves in magic waters. The memories will be so thick they'll have to brush them away from their faces. People will come Ray. The one constant through all the years, Ray, has been baseball. America has rolled by like an army of steamrollers. It has been erased like a blackboard, rebuilt and erased again. But baseball has marked the time. This field, this game: it's a part of our past, Ray. It reminds of us of all that once was good and it could be again. Oh... people will come Ray. People will most definitely come.
2: Wow. That's a great scene. Archie becomes Archibald and sacrifices his "heaven."
2: Lol. I was right about Mann lying.
2: Whoa, all those cars.
